Tournament Standings and Highlights
Championship Game: TW Blue holds on to beat TW Maroon 15-14 in 7 innings to win the Major Championship! TW Blue had a controlling lead 13-5 going in to the top of the 4th when TW Maroon decided they wanted to keep playing, and boy did they ever. What a great Championship game, extra innings, lasted 3 hours and had momentum swings all game. For Blue: Jake Church hit his 4th HR also had had a couple other hits, Cameron Ward had multiple hits, Caleb McIntire, Adam King, Spencer Lineback, Isaac Boatman, Hunter Hoskins, Sean Click and Ricky Hunter all made winning contributions for the Blue! Great Defense provided by Cameron Ward with a bases loaded catch in center field to stop Maroon's rally in the 7th, Caleb McIntire made 2 terrific plays at 3rd base, Hunter Hoskins had 2 nice put-outs at home to keep Blue tied in the last 2 innings. For Maroon: Seth Nail hit a 2-run HR in the 1st, and Jarrod Flanders tied the game with a 3-run blast in the 5th. Wes Phillips, Zach Yetter had very nice offensive output. This was a fantastic game to watch, an amazing comeback for Maroon that just fell a little short but it just shows there was no quit in those kids! Congratulations to the Maroon team for an outstanding year, and thanks to my Blue for making another great season for me to Coach!!!
Game #2: TW Maroon wins 7 to 2 vs. TW Gold. This was a great pitching duel between Seth Nail and Tyler Watson. Both pitchers were very hard on the hitters giving up only 7 hits combined through 4. The TW Maroon team was very fortunate to get away with this victory. TW Maroon was lead in hitting by Jarrod Flanders with 2 big inside- the-park home runs and the Gold Team was lead by Tanner Arnell who went 3 for 3 and Tyler Watson who went 2 for 3. Great game by both teams!
Game #1: TW Blue knocks off TW Grey 12-1, great offensive hitting from Adam King going 3-3 with 2 3-run HR's and a double, Caleb McIntire, Jake Church had multiple hits, also Cameron Ward, Hunter Hoskins, Isaac Boatman, Ricky Hunter, Sean Click, and Spencer Lineback all had hits! 2 of the best defensive plays I have seen as a coach were made last night by Spencer Lineback, Jake Church and Isaac Boatman: a ball hit hard up the middle Spencer snagged the ball tagged second and threw to 1st for a twin killing! The 2 was ball again hit hard up the middle and a diving Jake Church got his bare hand on the ball and deflected it towards a waiting Isaac Boatman at 2nd who grabbed the ball and dove and tagged 2nd with his glove to barely get the force at 2nd. Hunter Hoskins played well behind the plate throwing out 2 runners, Adam King made a great catch in foul territory! An overall top notch performance turned in from Blue. Great Job Boys, I hope I see the same in the Championship game on Monday!!!
